More Life In A Tramps Vest

‘Tramps Vest was the third single to be released from Word Gets Around and reached number 33 in early 1997. A live favourite at shows, it tells the tale of the demise of village life and the loss of the sense of community in South Wales. Fast and rocky, Kelly has said that he doesn’t enjoy playing it live although it remains in the set because of the reaction it gets. He also said that it gets faster and faster each time it is played to get it out of the way! During the Language.Sex.Violence.Other? World Tour in 2005, Kelly would talk about selling “cherries” at his fruit and veg stall and how he’d arrange to meet a girl later that night at the local “shit hole”, followed by many vodkas he’d return to her house for some cheese on toast, after which they’d get down next to a dodgy fireplace and “do the dirty deed”.
