Mama Told Me Not To Come
Written by Randy Newman, this song was covered for Tom Jones’ Reload album where it was the second track on the album. Also released as a single in March ’00, it did well in the UK charts reaching number 4. It has been played live on a number of occassions. A real sing-a-long chorus, this gave Kelly, Richard and Stuart the chance to work with one of their heroes which they weren’t ever going to say no to! Quite superb.
The story of the weekend they recorded this video is quite funny, they were in Las Vegas, playing a gig and afterwards they, along with Tom went to see Scotish stars Travis play a club down the road, and in the gig they bumped into Welsh Actor/Musician Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, Little Nicky, Oasis’ Importance Of Being Idle video) and they basically had a party! Later on they began were driving from Vegas to where the video was being shot, and anyway, they leave Vegas and keep driving towards the location, but a few hours later somehow end up in Las Vegas again! So they left Vegas a second time, this inspiried Kelly to write a song for the next album called ‘Vegas Two Times’. They made the video and unplanned they gave Rhys a cameo!
