Although dates cannot be confirmed yet, WordGetsAround can confirm that the band have booked to play at least one festival as it was announced on the official Facebook page of the Argentine festival “Hot Festival” that they band would perform (http://www.facebook.com/HotFestival) and will either play more or announce dates of individual gigs soon.

Stereophonics still haunted by Cable

The Stereophonics are reminded of their late first drummer, Stuart Cable, every time they hear their old songs.

The Welsh rockers are still coming to terms with the passing of their original drummer, Stuart Cable – who died after a night of heavy drinking with friends in June – and bassist Richard Jones still finds it difficult to listen to their early records.

Richard said: “When you go back out on the road and you’re playing those songs again, or even hearing them. Even just last week, somebody was playing ‘You Gotta Go There To Come Back’, and just listening to him playing drums, it kind of comes back again.”

Frontman Kelly Jones said that despite splitting with Stuart, he has always kept in touch and is now helping his family to come to terms with the tragedy.

Speaking at the Virgin Media V Festival, he told Absolute Radio: “Stuart’s always with us and always has been, and we’ve talked quite a lot for the last five or six years, right up until the point where he passed.

“We kept in touch with his family a lot and his girlfriend, and I think it’s helped them speaking to us, because we obviously were as close to him as they are really, It’s been strange looking out in and sometimes people having RIP Stuart and stuff like that.”

Stereophonics’ first two albums, ‘Word Gets Around’ and ‘Performance and Cocktails’ will be re-released as special edition box sets and the band this week announced they will play two special shows to celebrate in London. On October 17 the band will perform ‘Word Gets Around’ in full and on October 18 they will play ‘Performance and Cocktails’ in its entirety. Both shows take place at the capital’s Hammersmith Apollo venue.

Stereophonics to play first two albums at London shows – ticket details 

They’ll perform ‘Word Gets Around’ and ‘Performance And Cocktails’ at the Hammersmith Apollo in October

Stereophonics will play their first two albums in full at London‘s Hammersmith Apollo this autumn.

The Welsh group will perform 1997′s ‘Word Gets Around’ on October 17 and 1999′s ‘Performance And Cocktails’ on October 18.

The gigs will coincide with the re-release of both albums on October 18. Each reissue will feature the original album, plus a disc of the band’s favourite b-sides, rarities and early demos.

Released as a 2CD deluxe edition, a super-deluxe 3CD boxset will also be available, which includes a book based on frontman Kelly Jones‘ notebooks, containing handwritten lyrics and unseen photos.

Firstly, we are pleased to let you know that the band will be re-releasing ‘Word Gets Around’ and ‘Performance and Cocktails’ on the 18th October. They will both be available in a 2-disc special edition and a 3-disc deluxe edition which are both packed full of rarities and B-sides! (Scroll down below to see the full tracklistings).

We are also pleased to give you the opportunity to see the albums performed in full, along with B-sides!

If you pre-order any one of the re-released album versions using this link with HMV, you will be able to take advantage of a special pre-sale to buy tickets for one of these exclusive shows. We will not be adding any other dates so this will be the only opportunity.

The band will be performing ‘Word Gets Around’ in full (with B-sides) on Sunday 17th October at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
