Moviestar

Released February 9, 2004 - Chart Position #5

This song was written after the You Gotta Go There To Come Back sessions and was recorded in July 2003. Thought to be too strong to leave until the next album, it was released as a single on 9th February 2004, reaching number 5 in the charts. The 7" single was released a week later. The album was also re-released featuring the song on it. This is the first Stereophonics UK single to be released in the mini/maxi format. The mini CD features the studio version and a live Local Boy, whereas the maxi features live recordings of Moviestar, Bartender and Help Me, as well as behind the scenes PC CD-ROM footage of the November 2003 UK Arena tour.

Lyrics

Idolise tabloid lives
From God to art
We need a star
You’re in my soul
You’re in my mind
I walk on water every night

Moviestar, don’t know where you are
Moviestar, don’t know who you are

I love your taste
I love your shape
I love the things about you all the critics hate
You fill my soul, I once was blind
You turn my water into wine

Moviestar, don’t know where you are
Moviestar, don’t know who you are

You don’t know what it’s like needing you
You don’t know what it’s like needing you
You don’t know what it’s like needing you
Oh you’re such a star

You get me high
You blow my mind
You make my mundane life all worthwhile
Give me reason
Give me rhyme
Do anything for you, just give me a sign

Moviestar, don’t know where you are
Moviestar, don’t know who you are
Moviestar, don’t know where you are
Moviestar, don’t know who you are

Moviestar, don’t know where you are
Moviestar, don’t know who you are
Don’t know where you are
